Comics...

Took my boy to the Boston Comic Con on Sunday. We went last year and he had a pretty good time. This year he looked through some of the comic bins and picked a few to read on the way home. He found an old Gold Key Bugs Bunny that was 2 bucks so we got it, he looked through every page reading the words he could sound out.
Last year he got an action figure from the bargin bin, and this time he scored a bunch of those "hero-click" little figures.
He really liked the Batman in full outfit.

The Joker kind of freaked him out... me too.

Yerba Mate

I walked into one of the lab offices to find a Postdoc friend of mine enjoying this perculiar beverage. If I didn't know this guy to be the brilliant chemical biologist that he is I would have thought it was something that he got out of the back of a "High Times" magazine.
Turns out this is a traditional Chilean beverage (he's from Santiago) called Yerba Mate... or herb tea. The water filters down through the herbs and you sip it through a spoon with a flat strainer end (the spoon end) and a pipe like mouthpiece. Looks refreshing.
