Shelter Island Weekend

Justin and I had a fun short weekend trip to Shelter Island from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. Scott and Lee Grey were up staying at Crazy Oaks for a vacation and I really wanted to get down and see them. The forcast was for rain and lots of it thanks to hurricaine Hannah so I decided to go down to hang out for a day or so given that I wouldn't be able to make much progress on my house painting at home.

We arrived late Friday night and did some catching up. Saturday morning Justin and I went for a long walk over on Silver Beach and crossed the creek to walk along the other side. Scott and Lee joined us on the way back. We then took their little raft out and did some fun exploring around Crab Creek, and even invaded a few sandbars and checked for pirates.

The rain didnt come until later in the afternoon giving us a chance to try out Scott and Lee's new Bikeboard. They are selling these niffy rides now and they are true hot item. The one we used is one of only a handfull currently in the US. We had a blast riding around on the bike. Justin could stand up easily in front of me and we zipped along, up and down hills for several miles.

Justin had some fun with the doggies after the rain started then Scott and I had lots of fun getting soaked but still successfully grilling the chicken dinner with corn on the cob and everything worked out great.
We were able to get another nice long run in on the Bikeboard on Sunday before we headed home to catch Mom and Amanda at Missy's Christening party for her new son Christopher.
A lot of fun to see Scott and Lee (even though the whole Colts thing...) and to ride the new Bikeboard. Here are some phonepix from the weekend events.

We needed some improvisation in order to grill during the monsoon. Of course NOT grilling never occured to us.
This banner greeted me... lousy Colts fans...
